Malaki Ixchel Champion of Fiebre en el Desierto 2024

San Luis Potosí, Mexico – This weekend, the Malaki Ixchel team took top honors by winning the Fiebre en el Desierto 2024 tournament with a convincing 13-5 victory over Avalon Dorado in the grand final. The event also saw an outstanding performance from Malaki Itzamna, securing third place and strengthening the reputation of Malaki Ultimate in the national Ultimate scene.

This year’s edition of the tournament featured participation from 12 teams:

The final between Malaki Ixchel and Avalon Dorado was the climax of an action-packed weekend, where the strategy, skill, and team spirit of Malaki Ixchel were decisive for their victory. Additionally, the NOVA team was awarded the Spirit of the Game prize, recognizing their commitment to sportsmanship and respect on the field. This tournament once again demonstrated the growing quality and competitiveness of Ultimate frisbee in Mexico.

The organization of the event was led by the Saldaña Yrizar brothers, Lalo and ‘Pibe,’ who have shown a strong commitment to strengthening Ultimate in Mexico. Their dedicated work to preserve the tradition of the Fiebre en el Desierto tournament, an essential date on the country’s sports calendar, ensured its success and highlighted its significance within the Ultimate community.
